CSPD safely recover military explosive device

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department recovered a military explosive device in a neighborhood near Milton E Proby Parkway.

On Sunday, April 6, at around 6:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Morning Mist Drive, near Milton E. Proby Parkway and Hancock Expressway, for a report of an explosive device that had been discovered. Upon arrival, officers found what appeared to be a military device.

EOD detectives responded and discovered the device looked like a real claymore mine. The device was found not to contain any explosive material and was possibly used as a training device.

The device was removed and secured by detectives. There was no threat to the public, and the investigation is still ongoing.
