(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that on Sunday, April 6, an officer was hit in the intersection of North Carefree Circle and Powers Boulevard while driving to another call with lights and sirens activated, leading to a crash involving seven cars.
According to CSPD, a call involving a firearm came in around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, and the officer was heading to the location, going westbound on N. Carefree, and as they were crossing from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes of the Powers intersection, the officer was hit by vehicles traveling southbound on Powers.
CSPD reported that a total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash, closing the intersection for several hours while detectives investigated. The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported.
