CSPD: Suspect strikes officer after being tased twice

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspect who allegedly refused to follow police commands is accused of hitting an officer before he was arrested.

On Thursday, Dec. 19, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a domestic disturbance on 600 Jemison Grove near Platte Avenue. When officers arrived, they heard an active disturbance inside the apartment, with the occupants refusing to answer the door.

Officers forced their way into the apartment and were immediately met with Bryan Jenkins, who police said was confrontational and failed to follow police commands according to CSPD. Officers deployed their taser twice but Jenkins allegedly remained non-compliant and upon being taken to the ground, police said he struck the side of an officer’s face.

CSPD said Jenkins was arrested, taken to the hospital, and then booked into the El Paso Criminal Justice Center for charges including Strangulation, Assault on a Peace Officer, False Imprisonment, and Child Abuse.
