(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers arrested a 15-year-old after a couple of robberies in the overnight hours of Monday, March 4.
According to CSPD, on Monday at around 3 a.m. officers were called to a robbery with a weapon at a convenience store in the 2400 block of Arlington Drive off of South Circle Drive.
When officers arrived they learned a suspect, identified as a man, entered the store and stole items. When an employee confronted him, he pointed a handgun at them. The suspect then left the store in a silver sedan.
While officers were investigating, CSPD received another call about an armed robbery at a convenience store in the 1200 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue near East Platte Avenue and North Union Boulevard. According to CSPD, the same suspect had entered the store, aimed the handgun at an employee, demanded money, and stole items from the store.
The suspect left the area in the same silver sedan, responding officers checked the area and found the suspect vehicle abandoned, and police learned the vehicle was stolen.
Members of the CSPD Robbery Unit took over the investigation and were able to identify the suspect as a teen. On Tuesday, March 5 CSPD found the suspect and took him into custody without incident.
