(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Spring Police Department (CSPD) said a suspect of motor vehicle theft was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a rollover crash involving the stolen car she was in, during the evening hours of Thursday, June 6.
According to CSPD, on Thursday at around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to an in-progress motor vehicle theft which led to a single-vehicle rollover crash involving the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Madeline G. Riley.
Police said the victim apparently left his vehicle running and unattended near the 2100 block of Friendship Place near North 19th Street and Mesa Road before Riley unlawfully took the vehicle. The victim later tracked the car to the 2800 block of North Chestnut Street near West Fillmore Street and I-25 and found the vehicle crashed.
According to police, Riley tried to get away from the crash scene but was stopped by witnesses. No other vehicles were involved and no citizens were hurt during the incident.
CSPD said Riley is facing charges of Motor Vehicle Theft and additional traffic charges but due to her injuries from the crash, she remains at the hospital.
