(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) announced the passing of one of its senior canines, Britta who served with distinction at CSPD for 10 years. K9 Britta passed away on Sunday, June 9.
According to CSPD, Britta was born on Dec. 14, 2012, and was a member of CSPD’s EOD unit. Britta participated in around 200 deployments, including VIP sweeps, Vice Presidential and Presidential sweeps, and explosive calls for service.
K9 Britta was the oldest and most senior canine in CSPD. CSPD said Britta’s favorite pastime was playing fetch with her Chuckit ball and enjoying snacks of carrots and cucumbers.
K9 Britta came in second place in CSPD’s 2024 K9 March Madness, losing to K9 Kylo.
“Her contributions to the safety of Colorado Springs and the surrounding area were invaluable, and her presence will be sorely missed,” wrote CSPD.
