(MONUMENT, Colo.) — The Monument Police Department (MPD) is investigating a death near the Santa Fe Trailhead in Monument on Wednesday, March 19.

According to MPD, officers responded to the area of Third Street and Vista Montana Lane shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday on a report of a man dead at the Santa Fe Trailhead.

MPD said at this time, the investigation does not suggest any criminal activity occurred, though the official cause of death will be determined by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

MPD is asking locals to avoid the area while law enforcement works to investigate.
