DENVER (KDVR) — The NFL Draft is a day that children grow up dreaming about. Years of intense training, hard work and their own unique journeys lead up to the moment when they hear their name announced and they get to walk across the stage in their new team’s threads.
On Thursday, the Denver Broncos took the University of Texas’s cornerback Jahdae Barron with the 20th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft as the team’s first-round pick. The pick was announced through a Make-A-Wish Foundation wish recipient, Samuel, who wanted to announce a first-round NFL Draft pick for his favorite team.
Many players have to live up to expectations, and others dream of surpassing them.
Hall of Fame players can come from anywhere in the draft; a certain Tom Brady was even selected all the way in the sixth round with the 199th pick, and many consider him to be the best player in history.
The Denver Broncos have found success in the draft in recent years, bringing in core players, including:
Patrick Surtain II
Bo Nix
Marvin Mims Jr.
Nik Bonitto
Quinn Meinerz
Jonathon Cooper
For the 2025 NFL Draft, the Broncos have seven total picks, including:
Round 1: Pick 20 (Jahdae Barron, CB, University of Texas)
Round 2: Pick 51
Round 3: Pick 85
Round 4: Pick 122
Round 6: Pick 191
Round 6: Pick 197
Round 6: Pick 208
The Broncos find themselves in a position this year where there is no surefire way to pin down a pick. The team does not have the privilege of choosing the well-known, generational talent with the first-overall pick, and will instead have to make lots of phone calls, depend on scouting reports and find hidden gems in the later rounds of the draft.
According to Bleacher Report, the Broncos might be looking to trade the 20th pick to move up or down in the draft, and are fielding calls for the pick.
Finals predictions have these players projected as the favorite for each pick:
Pick 20: Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State: Wide receiver
Pick 51: Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State: Running back
Pick 85: Andrew Mukuba, Texas: Safety
Pick 122: Caleb Ransaw, Tulane: Cornerback
Pick 191: Jah Joyner, Minnesota: Edge
Pick 197: Orande Gadsden II, Syracuse: Tight end
Pick 208: Connor Colby, Iowa: Guard
The NFL Draft takes place over three days. The first day is for the first-round selections. The second day is for the second and third-round selections and the third day is for the fourth through seventh rounds.
The 2025 NFL Draft starts on Thursday at 6 p.m., the second day starts on Friday at 4 p.m. and the third day starts on Saturday at 10 a.m.
This article will be updated with the Denver Broncos’ picks as they are selected through the three-day draft process.
