DENVER (KDVR) — Denver’s first professional women’s sports major league team is kicking off in Denver in 2026, and the soccer team is asking for the public’s help in naming the new team.
In late January, the National Women’s Soccer League announced the newest team in the 16-club league is expanding to Denver. The NWSL is known for drafting the country’s favorites, like Alex Morgan, and international icons, like Marta Vieira da Silva, known worldwide as “Marta.”
Ever since the organization announced the new team, there hasn’t been much more information, other than the incoming team means new professional soccer players, a new stadium, a new crest, new colors and a new team name.
While most of the details of the team are still under wraps, on Wednesday, Denver NWSL gave the Mile High City an idea with a few potential names for the club.
Vote on the Denver NWSL name
The league launched the “Name The Club” Fan Vote inviting people to vote on the official team name. The league created a short list of six options that came from feedback, social media and consultation with fans.
Here are the potential options:
Denver Peak FC
Colorado 14ers FC
Colorado Summit FC
Denver Elevate FC
Denver FC
Denver Gold FC
There’s also an option to submit a write-in name.
“From day one, we’ve said that this club belongs to Colorado, and we’re putting that into action by letting our fans help shape its identity,” said Rob Cohen, controlling owner of Denver NWSL.
The vote opens on Denver NWSL’s website on Wednesday and runs through Feb. 26.
