DOLA rental assistance opens on Aug. 26

(COLORADO) — The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) announced on Thursday, Aug. 22 that August’s round of rental assistance will open for pre-applications starting on Monday, Aug. 26.

Pre-applications begin Monday at 11 a.m. and will be open to the public until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Once the pre-application round closes, all applicants will be entered into a random selection.

Selected applicants will receive an email invitation to complete a full application within seven days. To be considered, applicants must be eligible for assistance, and submit the completed application and all required documentation before the deadline.

Emergency rental assistance funding is available for Coloradans who have fallen behind on their rent, meet income limits and other qualifying factors, and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Those facing eviction will be prioritized. DOLA’s top priority is to serve as many Coloradans as possible, equitably and efficiently.

The timing of submission does not impact an applicant’s chances of receiving rental assistance in the random selection process. Submitting a pre-application earlier in the application window does not increase the likelihood of receiving rental assistance. All eligible applicants will be entered into the random selection process.

Those who are facing eviction can also call or text the CARE Center at 1 (303) 838-1200 or 1 (888) 480-0066, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The center will assist callers as they are able.
