(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The driver involved in a late January crash who later died has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), 84-year-old Harold Hoover was killed in a crash that happened on Monday, Jan. 22. Police said on Monday at around noon, officers were called to the 3300 block of South Academy Boulevard near Jet Wing Drive about a two-vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, they determined that a car driven by Hoover going northbound crossed into the southbound lanes and hit a second vehicle. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, where Hoover later died of his injuries.
CSPD said this is the fifth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time in 2023, there was one fatality.
