El Paso County Fair starts Saturday

(CALHAN, CO) — It’s that time of year, so grab your tickets, because the El Paso County Fair starts July 12.

The week-long family affair started 120 years ago as a potato festival.

In present day, the fair has grown to include much more. It boasts local vendors, funnel cakes, animals, carnival rides, free entertainment, and ticketed events. These examples just scratch the surface of what the fair has to offer, as a longstanding tradition that supports young people’s hobbies and hard work.

“This year, we’re offering incredible free entertainment daily. From Mad Chad the Extreme Juggler, to the High Energy Boom Hype Crew, plus Ventriloquist Joe Gandelman, and the jaw dropping Thrill Extravaganza, including a human cannonball, all included with fair admission,” said the El Paso County Fair & Events Center Supervisor, Andschana Aljets.

The fair has different discounts on admission for most days, as well as a sensory friendly day on Tuesday, July 15. Discounts are only available at the box office, but you can find dates and discounts below:

Saturday, July 12: Free admission for all active duty military veterans and their dependents

Monday, July 14: Everybody gets in free

Tuesday, July 15: Admission is $3 for seniors

Wednesday, July 16: Everybody gets in for $1

Thursday, July 17: Bring a nonperishable food item and get $2 off admission

Saturday, July 19: $1 off admission for first responders
