EPSO: Adult, 16-year-old identified as victims in Highway 85 double homicide

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has released the identities of two people found dead in a car in Security-Widefield before a person of interest was arrested at Denver International Airport (DIA).

According to EPSO, around 10:45 p.m. on July 3, a 911 call was received reporting a robbery in the area of Highway 85 and Main Street in Security-Widefield. Deputies responded and found a car parked along the side of Highway 85/87 with two people inside. The two people were determined to be deceased when deputies arrived, EPSO said.

Through the investigation, 23-year-old Eddie Lacharles Jackson was identified as a person of interest. Detectives learned Jackson was at DIA and coordinated with the Denver Police Department to locate and detain him.

Jackson was charged with two counts of second degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has since identified the two people in the car as 24-year-old Rylee Ferari and a 16-year-old whose identity will not be released due to their age.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of Rylee Ferari and the young juvenile victim. No family should ever endure the pain of losing a loved one to such senseless violence,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Our agency is committed to ensuring justice is served in every corner of El Paso County. I am proud of the detectives and patrol deputies who worked tirelessly and relentlessly to secure a quick arrest in this case.”
