EPSO catches driver with fictitious plates, no insurance going 15 over

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) is reminding drivers of the process to properly register a vehicle, after a driver was caught speeding with fictitious plates and no insurance.

According to EPSO, deputies initially pulled the driver over near Highway 24 for going 80 mph in a 65mph zone. After pulling the truck over, deputies discovered the driver had no insurance and was using fictitious plates.

EPSO reminds drivers in El Paso County that you cannot register a vehicle for the first time online, you must visit a Department of Motor Vehicles location with the required paperwork.

EPSO said the driver was cited for speeding, not providing proof of insurance, and fictitious registration.
