(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has confirmed the arrest of a woman in connection with three missing, endangered children.
EPSO reports that just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, its Regional Communications Center received a call from 30-year-old Danielle LeGrande. According to an official statement from EPSO, LeGrande said that people were following her and were trying to kill her before making more incoherent statements, then hung up.
Shortly after, a member of LeGrande’s family contacted EPSO after they found her location through a “shared location phone application.” The same relative also informed EPSO that LeGrande was the subject of an involuntary missing person report in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
EPSO stated that the Tecumseh Police Department confirmed this report and explained that she was traveling with three children, all of whom were labeled as endangered and missing.
With this information, EPSO dispatch tracked LeGrande with a member of her family while deputies looked for her in Cascade, her last known location. During this search, EPSO was alerted that LeGrande was in Colorado Springs, where they found her along with a man and the three children.
EPSO confirms that everyone involved was found safe and unharmed.
One of the children was given to their father at the scene of the arrest, while the other two were taken to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and then placed under the care of the Department of Human Services.
LeGrande was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation before being booked into the El Paso County Jail on a no-bond warrant from the Tecumseh Police Department. According to court documents, she has been filed as a Fugitive from Justice, and her first appearance before an El Paso County judge is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
