(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that a fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday, May 11, that has closed the intersection of Elbert Road and Murphy Place, north of Peyton.
According to CSP, the initial investigation indicates that a Ram 3500 and a Chevrolet Suburban crashed near the intersection. The driver of the Ram stayed at the scene as their passenger was taken to the hospital. Two of the people who were in the Suburban were declared dead on the scene, while one was airlifted to the hospital.
CSP said that both vehicles are blocking the intersection, and both roads will be closed for an extended period of time while the investigation is ongoing.
