(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — New penalties for drivers caught speeding more than 20 mph over the speed limit on post will be put into action at Fort Carson next month.
According to a Fort Carson Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 18, if personnel are caught doing this, their driving privileges can be suspended for a period of up to one year.
“The speed limit is 30 mph in the main cantonment and 20 mph in housing areas unless otherwise posted,” according to the post. “The maximum speed limit on Fort Carson is 40 mph.”
According to Fort Carson, a suspension may be lifted “…if the offender’s commander, director, or sponsor certifies that the driver has been counseled and completed remedial driver’s training.”
The new penalties will go into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.
