Fountain PD: Motorcycle vs. Pedestrian crash victim identified

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — The Fountain Police Department (FPD) released the identity of the victim of a crash that took place between a motorcycle and a pedestrian on Tuesday evening, Sept. 30.

According to FPD, officers and medical personnel responded to the crash at the intersection of South Highway 85 and Main Street around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, where they found two people who were severely injured.

Despite efforts to save the pedestrian’s life, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The lone motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital to treat potentially life-threatening injuries.

The FPD Major Crash Unit took over the investigation and determined that the motorcycle had been traveling south on Hwy 85, approaching Main Street, while the pedestrian was walking across the highway from east to west without a crossing indicator when she was hit by the motorcycle.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and identified the pedestrian as 44-year-old Sharla Willer.

The investigation is still ongoing. Based on initial information, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved.
