(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — The Fountain Police Department (FPD) has arrested a 25-year-old suspect after he shot at a family of three during a road rage situation.
On April 10, Fountain Police officers responded to the Dollar General located on Jimmy Camp Road, near Link Road, on reports of a road rage situation. The caller reported that a man had followed her to Dollar General and fired multiple shots at her car, while she and her two daughters were inside the vehicle.
Multiple bullets struck the headrests where the children were sitting. Police said the bullets narrowly missed them.
The Fountain Police Department Directed Investigation Community Engagement (D.I.C.E.) Unit took over the investigation and was able to identify the suspect. On Tuesday, May 20, police took 45-year-old Clinton Padgett into custody and booked him into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center (CJC).
Padgett was taken into the CJC on charges of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and several other charges.
