(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — Following the coldest night of the season so far, and the latest failed attempt to pass a federal budget, Fountain Utilities is informing customers of various assistance options to avoid being disconnected.
Fountain Utilities said it recognizes that a significant portion of its customers are members of the military, military contractors, or small businesses who rely on spending by federal workers.
To help, Fountain Utilities is bringing attention to three programs that can provide assistance:
Lighten the Load: Offers up to $750 in any 12-month period
Energy Outreach Colorado: Offers up to $1000 per fiscal year (October to September)
Home Front Cares: Provides emergency financial assistance
If a person or business doesn’t qualify for any of the assistance programs, they can still contact Fountain Utilities to avoid a disconnection. Fountain Utilities said it will review each case on an individual basis and come up with a unique plan that fits each customer.
According to Fountain Utilities, it is imperative for military families or federally-supported businesses to seek help before a disconnection is imminent, by contacting customer service by calling (719) 322-2010 or emailing [email protected].
