Fox Run Regional Park hosts winter celebration

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Fox Run Regional Park celebrated the beauty of nature and the winter season with a special event on Saturday, Feb. 1, offering a variety of fun activities for all ages.

The celebration included a mix of outdoor and family-friendly activities like storytelling, wagon rides, a doggie parade, hot dog and marshmallow roasting, and plenty of games and crafts. For those in need of something to warm them up, hot chocolate was also served.

The event, priced at $5 per person, covered all activities and snacks. Money raised supports the upcoming development of a new center at Fox Run Regional Park, aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and preserving the park’s natural beauty.

“This event ties in really perfectly with our mission, which is to connect people to their natural and cultural resources and inspire stewardship,” said Mary Jo Lewis, Supervisor of Bear Creek Nature Center with El Paso County Parks. “And we think the best way to do that is to get people out, give them opportunities to get their hands involved with something. So and then when you come to a place this beautiful and you learn more about it, people learn to love it and want to protect it and support it.”

The new center at Fox Run Regional Park will feature two buildings: an observation tower and a canopy walk.
