FPD: Verbal altercation leads to shooting in Fountain

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — A verbal altercation escalated into a shooting in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the City of Fountain, according to the Fountain Police Department (FPD).

FPD reported that around 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, near I-25, for a call about a shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found one man with what appeared to be one non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was transported to the hospital.

In their preliminary investigation, detectives learned that an argument between two possible acquaintances escalated into a shooting. This is an isolated incident, and no roads or businesses are closed. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
