(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Severe weather reports were confined to areas along and north of Highway 50 on Monday, from Penrose to Avondale to Olney Springs and areas northward. Several reports of 1.5″ diameter hail came in. Avondale had some a little after 8 pm and earlier in the afternoon there was a strong cluster of storms to the northeast of Colorado Springs.

Storm timing and threats are similar today, but the best combination of moisture, lift, instability, and wind shear will be over the southern 2/3rds of the area. While areas farther north certainly good see a storm, the most widespread coverage and best chance of getting a few rounds of storms will be over southern areas today.
