GEICO and NABC donate car to single mother of two

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — A Colorado Springs mother was presented with a special donation from the National Auto Body Council (NABC), GEICO, and Crash Champions-Southmoor to provide her with reliable transportation to support her family.

Lois Bolton constantly relied on rideshares to get to work and her children to school. The mother of two was unable to participate in community events or enroll her kids in any school activities due to not having any reliable transportation.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, Bolton’s lack of transportation was fixed by NABC and GEICO who provided her with a refurbished 2017 Jeep Renegade to help her reach her goals. While the vehicle was donated by the two agencies, Crash Champions Southmoor’s technicians fully refurbished the car to make it perfect for donation.

“There’s no words… it looks so amazing, I can’t believe it,” she said.

As a single mother without much outside help, Bolton hoped to find a second job to grow her income and sustain good housing for the family. To create a stable situation for her family, Bolton had been working with several United Way agencies.

Bolton was nominated by Pikes Peak United Way to the NABC Recycled Rides program, a national program where businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry, team up to repair and donate cars to families and individuals who are in need of reliable transportation.

Since NABC Recycled Rides was created in 2007, GEICO has been their largest donor and has provided the program with more than 1,000 cars. Crash Champions has refurbished nearly 250 vehicles that were gifted to charities and people in need.
