Hiking the Manitou Incline in the snow

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — While reservations are still required to hike the Manitou Incline, on Wednesday, May 7, the hiking trail was wide open as snow coated the more than 2,700 steps up. Two men, though, said the snow didn’t stop them from trekking up the trail.

Todd Ogden shared a photo of himself hiking the Incline on Wednesday morning with snow up to his waist. He said he and his friend, “Crazy Bob,” can’t get out there fast enough when the conditions are like Wednesday’s.

He told FOX21 News that the photo is a little misleading, though, because he was rolling around in the snow, right before the picture was taken.

For those who want to venture outdoors in wintry conditions, it’s important to be prepared. The National Park Service recommends layers of clothing, keeping off the ice, and bringing appropriate footwear, just to name a few.
