Hundreds gather to ride for Charlie Kirk

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Sunday, Sept. 14, hundreds of people in Colorado Springs participated in a parade to honor the late Charlie Kirk, a political and Christian activist.

“We’re just hoping that the country can put aside political beliefs and unite in the mourning of a human being,” said Emma Huffer, a participant in the parade.

The parade began at the Walmart on 8th Street and proceeded through Garden of the Gods, ending at the park’s visitor center parking lot. Participants waved American flags and displayed handmade signs and license plates in tribute.

“We should come together. We should be together. I mean, this turnout right now is absolutely amazing. It makes me want to cry. But this is all for honoring Charlie Kirk,” said Heidi John, the event organizer.

John emphasized that the goal of the event is to unite people across political lines. “This is how we’re supposed to come together. I don’t want any more division. I’m so tired of the division like this,” she said.

Memorials for Charlie Kirk have been held across the country following his death. Despite some interruptions at other memorials, the focus in Colorado Springs was on love and peace.

Ella Huffman, another participant, stressed the importance of unity in grief. “I think it’s really important that we bring it to Colorado so that everybody can unite in grief and understand that it isn’t a left or right issue. It’s a humanity issue,” she said.

Kirk’s funeral is scheduled for Sept. 21st, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The parade in Colorado Springs served as a peaceful demonstration of unity and remembrance for Charlie Kirk, highlighting the community’s desire to transcend political divisions in honor of his legacy.
