I-70 reopens after multi-car crash near the tunnel

DENVER (KDVR) — A multi-vehicle crash closed eastbound Interstate 70 on Friday.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office posted on X just before 11 a.m. about a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 70 just east of the Eisenhower Tunnel.

The sheriff’s office said I-70 east was closed at the tunnel; however, it reopened at noon.

Deputies said injuries are unknown.

Little information was immediately released on the cause of the crash, but heavy snow has been falling in the high country all morning. I-70 was closed from C-470 to Silverthrone for several hours but has since reopened.

This is a developing story; stay tuned for updates.
