(COLORADO SPRINGS)– If you step inside the back of Dice Guys Game Shop in Old Colorado City just behind a white door in the back of the store, you’ll be transported to the Springs Ensemble Theatre.
On stage, starting Thursday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, March 2, thespians bring to live “On Clover Road”, an original play by a Colorado native. “It’s by Steven Dietz who is Colorado native born and raised in Denver,” said Steve Emily with the Springs Ensemble Theatre (SET).
“On Clover Road” is not a kid-friendly show, but adults can enjoy a night out while giving patron to local theatre.
“We try to do a lot of stuff that you don’t necessarily see at other places in town. It’s really cool because it is a speakeasy – most people don’t know that it even exists,” Emily continued.
SET spent over a decade at a space near the Olympic Training Center until they lost their lease. “We were scrambling to find a new place,” Emily said. “One of our company members said ‘I’ve got a speakeasy in the back of my game store.'”
That member was Adam Stepan, owner of Dice Guys, who said the decision to offer the space was easy. “SET was one of the first companies that I worked for in Colorado Springs and it instantly felt like home. I was a member within a year so when their transition came up that they needed a new space– it just felt like the right thing in every way possible.”
