Jarrett Stidham to start at QB in Denver Broncos preseason opener

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Broncos quarterback rotation for the first preseason game has been announced.

The Broncos play their preseason opener on Sunday in Indianapolis. The quarterback rotation will be:

Jarrett Stidham

Bo Nix

Zach Wilson

Head coach Sean Payton said Nix would start in the second preseason game at home in Denver versus the Green Bay Packers.

Stidham is the veteran quarterback on the field, starting toward the close of last season as the Broncos prepared to cut two-season quarterback Russell Wilson.

“My goal is to go out there and execute on the highest level. Competition is really healthy and it’s bringing out the best in everybody,” Stidham said at practice on Thursday.

Since the start of offseason work in May, the Broncos quarterbacks rotated snaps. FOX31’s Dave Althouse has been following the team through training camp and reported that Nix and Stidham split the majority of first-team reps through the second week, with Wilson trailing behind in getting snaps.

The first regular season game is set for Sunday, Sept. 8, in Seattle versus the Seahawks.
