(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The 5th Annual Soli Summer Sing is coming up, which offers a unique and exciting experience for singers and audience members as well as features special guests Leah Edwards and Dimitri Pittas. These acclaimed artists have graced stages with major opera companies and symphony orchestras worldwide.
The Summer Sing is hosted by the Soli Deo Gloria Choir and features a concert one day after an intensive single rehearsal. The concert is Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church. It is free to attend, but tickets are required as space is limited. Singers are also welcome to join and the rehearsal is Saturday, July 19th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Immediately following the concert on Sunday, the Soli Deo Gloria Choir is hosting a festive, family-friendly Italian dinner at the historic Peel House. The homemade pasta dinner will be served by choir members and will support the Soli Deo Gloria Choir. The event will feature live entertainment including performances by Edwards and Pittas as well as Nathaniel Voelker, Artistic and Executive Director of the Soli Deo Gloria Choir.
Voelker joined FOX21 Morning News on Tuesday, July 8 to talk about the Summer Sing and what attendees can expect.
“Soli Deo Gloria Choir at this moment is the largest choir in the Pikes Peak Region,” said Voelker. “We have roughly 150 members.” The choir is a multi-generational ensemble and has members from 14 years old to 90. “We’ve got families that are involved, three generations… and it’s a non-auditioned choir. All you got to do is be able to match the pitch.”
