King Soopers gas station shooting victim identified

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) released the identity of the homicide victim from the King Soopers gas station shooting that took place on Monday, Jan. 20.

According to CSPD, officers responded to a call about a shooting at the 5800 block of Stetson Hills Boulevard, near North Powers Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Previous coverage reported that when officers arrived, they found a man dead inside a car near the gas pumps of the King Soopers gas station, with an apparent gunshot wound.

CSPD stated that on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and identified the man as 32-year-old Tyray Ikener. The death is being investigated as a homicide, though the Coroner’s Office is still determining the cause and manner of death.

According to CSPD, this was the 3rd homicide in 2025 in Colorado Springs. At this time last year, there were zero homicides.
