Large grass fire burning in eastern Pueblo County

(BOONE, Colo.) — A large grass fire is burning near the town of Boone, in eastern Pueblo County, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

PCSO said as of 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, that several fire agencies were responding to the so-called ‘209Fire,’ which is burning south of Highway 96.

The Sheriff’s Office said the size of the fire has not been determined, but no structures are threatened at this time.

Fire agencies responding include; the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Bureau, Pueblo City Fire, Pueblo West Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire, Pueblo Chemical Depot, Transportation Technology Center, and Beulah Fire.

PCSO originally posted about the grass fire just after 12:40 p.m. on Thursday.
