DENVER (KDVR) — Sharpen those pencils, because it’s time to prepare for the impending Colorado school season, with most school districts starting sometime in August.
Despite the continuing heat and summer-like weather, students are heading back to school for another year of learning. For some, they will see changes at school: A law enacted this year will require all districts to enact a cellphone policy by July 2026, although some districts, such as Boulder Valley, already have policies.
Another law will impact motorists: Drivers must stop for school buses with flashing red lights even in the oncoming lane of traffic, unless there is a physical barrier between you and the bus. Previously, the law stipulated that if there was a painted line or painted median between the oncoming lane and the school bus, you were OK to continue traveling.
