(PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo.) — The Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station Fire Department will be conducting live burn piles starting around Saturday, Feb. 15 and there is a potential for smoke to be visible.
Peterson Space Force Base said the purpose of the burns is to reduce overall vegetation and improve overall forest health and resiliency.
The burns will take place starting around Saturday and run through Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. There is the possibility for light smoke to be visible and Peterson Space Force Base is reassuring the public not to be alarmed or call 911 to report a fire.
Safety protocols are in place and the pile burns are done in a controlled environment.
