Major congestion on Platte Avenue due to multiple crashes

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 4/9/2025 4:55 p.m.

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries as a result of one of the crashes on Platte on Wednesday.

CSPD said no major injuries were reported and the major crash team was not responding.

WEDNESDAY 4/9/2025 4:17 p.m.

Multiple crashes are causing heavy backups on Platte Avenue in both directions just before rush hour on Wednesday, April 9.

There were two separate crashes on Platte Avenue around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, one rollover crash eastbound east of the Academy Boulevard bridge, and one westbound west of the bridge. According to the FOX21 News crew that became stuck in the traffic, both eastbound and westbound Platte Avenue were down to one lane on either side of the bridge.

The crashes are causing major congestion near the Platte Avenue/Academy Boulevard interchange, so drivers are urged to plan alternate routes if they need to travel in the area.
