(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man was arrested after the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) alleges he assaulted a woman in the morning of Sunday, Feb. 23.
According to CSPD, on Sunday at around 10 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 2500 block of Royalty Court near Mesa Road and North 19th Street west of Downtown. CSPD was told a man, identified as 45-year-old Francisco Aragon, was seen strangling a woman and had put her in a car before leaving the area.
While officers were on their way to the scene, Aragon came back. When police arrived, Aragon was seen entering a home, but he refused to come to the door. In order to ensure the safety of the woman, CSPD said officers forced their way into the home but did not find the woman. Police spoke with the family of the woman and learned she was given a ride from the area to a local convenience store and that she was okay. Officers were unable to contact the woman directly.
Aragon was taken into custody and is facing charges of domestic violence related second-degree assault and kidnapping.
