Man arrested on numerous charges after reported gunfire

(OLD COLORADO CITY, Colo.) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a man after investigating shots fired.

On Monday, Feb. 10, CSPD officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Arcturus Drive, near South Eight Street. As officers arrived, they heard additional shots fired and reported the sound of bullets flying past their immediate location.

Officers initially believed that the shots were coming from a specific unit on the block, while a reporting party believed the shots were coming from a specific unit on an upper floor; the unit was cleared and found not to be involved.

Later that day, CSPD responded to a domestic disturbance that occurred in the same building around the time of the reports of shots fired. The victim in that case reportedly had been attacked by an intimate partner in her own apartment and shots were fired during the incident. CSPD determined this was the likely source of the initial shots that were heard by residents in the area.

Officers developed probable cause and were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of 21-year-old Lane Nordyke. At around midnight on Thursday, Feb. 13, Nordyke was arrested in the 1400 block of South 8th Street.

Nordyke is facing multiple charges. including First Degree Burglary, Felony Menacing, Third-Degree Assault, Harassment, Prohibited Use of Weapons, Criminal Mischief, and Reckless Endangerment.

The incident is currently under active investigation. Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call CSPD at 719-444-4000, or Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867 to remain anonymous.
