(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man killed in a stabbing on the south side of Colorado Springs in July has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
According to a press release from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers originally responded shortly after 1:15 p.m. on Friday, July 12 to a reported stabbing in the 700 block of East Cheyenne Road, in the Stratton Meadows neighborhood.
When officers arrived, CSPD said they found a man suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On July 18, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Andrew Lee Orona. While the coroner will determine the official cause and manner of death, Orona’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
As of Monday, July 22, a suspect had not been arrested in connection to the deadly stabbing. The incident remains under investigation, CSPD said, and anyone with information or who was a witness to the crime is asked to contact CSPD at (719) 444-4000. This is the 22nd homicide in Colorado Springs in 2024. At the same time in 2023, there had been 16 homicides.
