(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — A man who helped his brother escape from the Fremont County Jail will not spend any time in jail, according to court records.
38-year-old Kyle VanVliet was arrested on June 26 on a felony warrant for aiding escape, after his brother, 45-year-old Kegan VanVliet, escaped from the Fremont County Jail.
Kegan VanVliet was captured in Colorado Springs later on the same day as the escape, thanks in part to infrared technology utilized by the Colorado State Patrol as well as assistance from a K9 Officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

After taking a plea deal, Kyle VanVliet was issued a deferred sentence, meaning if he fulfills the stipulations surrounding his two-year probation, a judge could clear the incident from his record.
In March, Kegan VanVliet agreed to plead guilty to escape charges and was sentenced to six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
