(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs is making key updates to its parking program after receiving feedback from the community, businesses, and visitors.
In Jan. 2024, the City announced that it would implement a new digital parking permit system, and all 2024 permits would remain valid until Feb. 1. The new parking system would give residents digital permits and hanging tags would no longer be available.
However, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, the City backtracked, and after receiving feedback, decided to keep the hang tags.
“To improve enforcement, ease of use, and accessibility, the City is reinstating stickers for residents and hang tags for guests, and businesses effective immediately,” said the City via Facebook.
The City said residents are allowed one sticker for windshield per vehicle and up to two guest hang tags per address based on Residential Parking Permit (RPP) zones. Short-term rentals can receive reusable hang tags for their guests while businesses and employees can also receive hang tags.
In addition, all 2024 business and residential parking permits will remain valid until transitioned into the new digital system for 2025 based on the date an individual registered for their 2024 tag. The tag expires 12 months from the date it was registered.
New 2025 tickets/hang tags include enhanced security features, such as unique QR codes and street number identifiers to verify that a car belongs to a designated RPP zone.

“These updates are a direct result of listening to our residents, visitors, businesses, and City Council,” said Juan Alvarez, Director of Mobility and Parking.
The City hoped the new digital system would help with efficiency and mitigating issues related to forged permits and parking pass abuse.
