Monte Vista police chief placed on paid leave after alleged off-duty incident

(MONTE VISTA, Colo.) — The Monte Vista Chief of Police, Tyler Harford, has been placed on paid administrative leave after reports of an off-duty incident in Saguache city limits on Saturday evening, according to the Monte Vista City Manager, Gigi Dennis.

The administrative leave is effective immediately, and the decision is in accordance with Monte Vista’s Code of Conduct and was made to maintain transparency and public confidence. The City of Salida Police Department is conducting an independent investigation and review. During the investigation, Sergeant Robert Pino will serve as Acting Chief of Police to ensure continued operations in the department.

According to the Monte Vista Police Department, no further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the privacy of those involved.
