Motorcyclist dies of injuries after crash on Galley Road and Murray Boulevard

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A motorcyclist who died of his injuries after a crash on Galley Road and North Murray Boulevard earlier this month has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as 43-year-old Kevin Bland.


Crash into Galley construction sign causes serious injury

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on Saturday, Aug. 3, officers responded to a crash at Galley Rd. and N. Murray Blvd. involving a single motorcycle. Before emergency crews arrived, a community member who witnessed the crash provided medical aid before Bland was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CSPD said an investigation revealed that while driving, Bland struck barrels marking a lane closure, as well as a traffic trailer indicating for traffic to merge before he was thrown from the bike.

Bland died of his injuries on Saturday, Aug. 10, according to CSPD, which also said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the investigation.

This is the 34th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, at this time last year, there were 27 traffic fatalities. In the past 365 days, there have been 57 traffic fatalities in the city.
