(BENT COUNTY, Colo.) — A motorcycle rider was found dead on the scene of a crash in Bent County on Sunday, July 14.

According to the Bent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a motorcycle crash on westbound Highway 50 Sunday, just outside the city limits of Las Animas. First responders with the Las Animas Fire Department and the Bent County Ambulance Service also responded to assist.

When deputies arrived, they found the motorcyclist who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and the Bent County Coroner were notified of the crash, and the westbound lanes of Highway 50 were shut down while CSP’s Vehicular Crimes Unit investigated and reconstructed the crash scene.

“The Bent County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the involved rider,” a Facebook post read.

The motorcyclist’s identity is not being released at this time.
