(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Six people have been arrested, and one remains at large, after the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said arrest warrants were issued in connection with multiple non-fatal shootings in Pueblo in July.
According to PPD, seven arrest warrants were issued between July 23 through July 30 in connection with two separate early-morning shootings, one that occurred on July 1 and one that occurred on July 10. Several of the suspects were minors, and several were arrested on attempted homicide charges.
PPD said the first shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. on July 1. PPD detectives responded to investigate a drive-by shooting that left one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. PPD said the investigation revealed the incident had actually begun an hour and a half earlier at City Park, and resulted in a premeditated drive-by shooting.
Detectives identified the driver and one of the two shooters, resulting in the arrest of 20-year-old Marvin Arellano on charges of First-Degree Attempted Homicide. He is being held on $350,000 bond. A 16-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with Complicity to First-Degree Attempted Homicide.
The second shooting occurred during an attempted carjacking around 2:30 a.m. on July 10. PPD said detectives responded and found three victims, all with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The injuries resulted from gunfire being exchanged between the victims and the suspects during the attempted carjacking, PPD said.
After several days’ worth of investigation and the issuance of more than a dozen warrants, five suspects were identified, including another 16-year-old boy. The other four suspects, identified as 20-year-old Quincy Stephens, 20-year-old Damion Trujillo, 19-year-old Marcus Pechek, and 19-year-old Juaquin Trujillo, were arrested on charges of Second-Degree Attempted Homicide and Aggravated Robbery. The 16-year-old boy remains at large, PPD said.
Damion Trujillo and Stephens remain in custody at the Pueblo County Jail, while Pechek was released on bond after spending just under six days in jail. Juaquin Trujillo was also released on bond after spending three days in custody.
