(COLORADO SPRINGS) — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the S.T.A.Y. Foundation (formerly Bryson’s Chase) is hosting a concert on Saturday, May 11, to raise funds for those in need of mental health support in Southern Colorado.
Lindsey Thompson, Founder of S.T.A.Y, and Angie Glenmore, the President of the organization joined FOX21 News on Thursday, May 9, to talk about their mission and the upcoming event.
Thompson initially founded Bryson’s Chase as a result of the struggles she and her own son went through trying to find mental health support for him. “It just started out with wanting to raise a few dollars for mental health care, “said Thompson. “We have grown exponentially because the need is so great. So Bryson’s Chase that was my story, with my kid and now we’ve grown to just be everybody’s story.”
S.T.A.Y. stands for Stronger Together Advocating for You, but Thompson said its message is simple, Stay. “We just want people to stay in the profession, the providers. Stay in the fight, parents. And kids, just stay here,” Thompson said.
“We just really want to be a resource for people to be able to come to when they don’t know where else to turn, when they don’t have the financial resources, and they think they can’t afford therapy for their kiddos—we just want them to know that we’re here and that we are working with a great list of referral providers that are willing to step in who really care about the community,” said Glenmore.
Saturday’s concert is raising money to help fund this support and the concert features NAILS, a Nine Inch Nails Tribute band, My Own Summer, a Deftones Tribute band, and local band Skin & Bones.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the door. It is an all-ages show and tickets cost $20. S.T.A.Y. is also auctioning off an electric guitar. Doors open at 6 p.m.
