(COLORADO SPRINGS) — This week’s Whataburger Athlete of the Week is Audrey Garcia de Leon from Palmer High School.

De Leon, originally from Mexico, is a junior studying abroad in Colorado Springs. Her father, who also studied abroad, stayed with the same host family Audrey is currently living with.

The junior’s sport growing up was flag football, but unfortunately the Palmer Terrors do not offer a flag football team, meaning de Leon had to look elsewhere.

It was Audrey’s friend who pushed her to try out for the soccer team. Fast forward and de Leon is the starting goalkeeper who has pushed her team to their best start of the season in years.

Audrey had zero soccer experience before the start of Palmer’s soccer season.

This season, the Terrors are 4-0-2.
