Northbound I-25 closed: 8 taken to hospital after crash near Larkspur

DENVER (KDVR) — Eight people were transported to a local hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 25 near Larkspur Sunday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

All northbound lanes of the interstate were still shut down completely as of 2 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The crash happened at 12:21 p.m. at milepost 171, which is just north of Larkspur.

The extent of injuries for all eight people was unknown.

The road was closed between exit 167 at Greenland and exit 172 at Upper Lake Gulch Road. CDOT also closed the road further south, from exit 163 at County Line Road and exit 167 at Greenland for safety concerns.

Traffic was backed up for several miles due to the crash.
