(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS) fire department will perform prescribed pile burns from Sunday, Dec. 8, through Friday, Dec. 13, on the CMSFS installation in the Cheyenne Mountain area.

The prescribed burns will start at 9 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. each day. They aim to reduce the vegetative fuel load and improve forest health and resiliency.

People in the area may see light smoke, however, there is no cause for alarm or to call 911 to report a fire. Fire crews will enact all safety protocols and the burns will be performed in controlled environments.
