CSPD: Worker escapes as suspect breaks into office

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, Dec. 7, around 4:30 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a burglary in progress where a suspect forced his way into an office during working hours.

According to CSPD, the caller reported that they had been working in their office in the 600 block of Southpointe Court, near South Nevada Avenue and Lake Avenue, when they heard someone trying to break down the door into the business. The caller warned the suspect that they were inside and calling the police, but the suspect, later identified as Jody Jackson, continued until they broke through the door.

CSPD said that the caller was able to get out of the office while notifying the police, and when officers arrived, they found Jackson in the office.

Jackson allegedly refused to cooperate with the officer’s demands and was hit with a taser. The suspect continued to resist and allegedly assaulted both officers, causing minor injuries, before being arrested.

Jackson was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on multiple charges, including burglary and assault on a peace officer. There was no known connection between Jackson and the business. Both officers remained on duty.
