(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Recently Phil Long Dealerships presented checks to five local community-focused organizations in honor of its former president and CEO Jay Cimino.
Cimino was the former president and CEO of Phil Long Dealerships, who passed away in February shortly after his retirement. During his 49 years of service at Phil Long, Cimino became known for his philanthropy and community service.
The money was raised during Phil Long’s “Thanks, Jay” giveback campaign. For every new and pre-owned vehicle sold in April, the month of Cimino’s birthday, a donation was made to each of the five organizations, for a grand total of $95,950.
“Jay was an extraordinary man, whose contributions touched many communities throughout the state and beyond,” said Phil Long Dealerships’ President and CEO Kevin Shaughnessy. “We are proud to continue his legacy of philanthropy and are grateful for our customers because it is their trust in us that allows us to make such a positive impact.”
Phil Long chose Colorado Parks & Wildlife, 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings, Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center, and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. Phil Long Dealerships said the organizations were chosen due to their missions being closely tied to the philanthropic efforts Cimino made during his life.
“A huge thank you goes out to Phil Long Dealerships and their customers for their donation to our 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative,” Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade said in a Facebook post. “Thank you for sharing our vision to connect with one another and address social isolation and loneliness in our community.”
